Hamburg sprints with hydrogen

HyWeb, 97-04-01: In Hamburg, seven vans of the Sprinter-type (Mercedes-Benz) will be modified to hydrogen operation. They will be operated in larger private and municipal Hamburg vehicle fleets. For this project, the „Hamburg-Hydrogen-Agency (Hamburger-Wasserstoff-Agentur-GmbH)" has been founded in March 1997. In the first project phase, Hamburg industrial hydrogen will be used; later on, import of hydrogen from Iceland hydro power is envisaged. The modification of the first vehicle and the erection of the necessary infrastructure will take approximately six months.
