Project Description and Objectives: |
The New Munich Fair according to the guidelines of their partners and within the limits of its financial possibilities shall take a lead role in modern and future-oriented energy and transportation technologies. With respect to this goal, MMG has more than one decade of experience with electric vehicles. MMG wants of maintain this or a comparable environmental standard and extend it on other types of vehicles. Thus MMG is confronted with the need, besided electrically operated fork lifts and light duty trucks, to switch to clean propulsion systems for vehicle classes with medium (cars, vans, pickups) and higher payloads (delivery trucks, garbage collection trucks, fair shuttle buses). |

|
Technical Goals: |
On behalf of and in close agreement with MMG, LBST investigated in a study the availability of electric and natural gas propulsion versions for all vehicle classes of interest to MMG. Also a detailed comparison of capacities and costs of different compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling systems was carried out. In scenarios the introduction of natural gas vehicles and necessary natural gas infrastructure at the New Munich Fair was examined more closely. The investigation was executed between November 1996 and February 1997. |
