Project Description and Objectives:

In the framework of the investigation today's German hydrogen market has been analyzed by applying the method of input/output analysis on statistical production figures and then was compared with the figures for 1984 and 1989 which were elaborated using the same method. Expected and already materialized trends in the switch ooccuring between supply and demand side developments have been worked out.
Based on these investigations a direct poll on approx. 500 companies has been executed. By this inquiry a total hydrogen volume of 6 to 7 billion standard m3 could be identified (representing about one third of the entire hydrogen market). By means of the results obtained by the inquiry those enterprises and locations could be analyzed which today generate hydrogen as a by-product and burn it in low quality thermal uses. For some of the locations the boundary conditions were analyzed more thoroughly. It turned out that partially the preparedness to make available this hydrogen for higher quality applications existed.
In this context, potential operators of larger vehicle fleets were addressed. The boundary conditions were elaborated under which the mobile use of hydrogen in vehicles seemed suitable.
